Opened an all-electric vehicle dealership in Florida

"I opened an all-electric vehicle dealership in St. Petersburg, Florida to sell Wheego electric automobiles and Vantage electric trucks.  We chose St. Petersburg because it has a little more of a progressively green attitude and has an urban feel to it.  I am extremely proud to open on 4th St. in St. Petersburg, which years ago was home to many auto dealers with gas cars.  I have been in the automobile business for almost 40 years and have been watching the progression of electric vehicles for several years with great interest. The first car I sold was a Buick that got 8.7 MPG, and the last car I sold got 28 MPG.  Not a lot of progress for nearly 40 years.  Our vehicles are built in California and are over 75% domestic content.   Both lines qualify for GSA contracts and can be sold to the government.

The Wheego Whip is for city usage and has a range of approximately 40 miles on a complete charge.  It is perfect for residents of St. Petersburg who typically drive in a 40-50 block area.  The car comes with all power amenities and air conditioning and can be purchased for under $20,000, as well qualifying for a 10% federal tax credit.  Suncoast Electric Vehicles has several to choose from in different colors for immediate delivery.  With all the recent interest in electric cars we’ve heard that most general auto dealerships don’t actually have the new models in stock yet, so it feels good to run a dealership that actually offers EVs people can take home today.  The Wheego LiFe, which will be available in February, is the highway version of the Whip and has a range of 100 miles and speeds up to 70MPH.

We’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from the community when they see our stock, such as the line-up of all-electric trucks, including a regular cab pickup, dual cab pickup, cargo and window van and 4 X 4.  These vehicles are perfect for municipal usage, college campuses, deliveries of all types, landscape vehicles and many other custom versions.

We also do all our own service work with mobile technicians.  Our customers really love the fact that we travel to them for any repairs.  Suncoast Electric Vehicles plans on expanding in the Tampa Bay metropolitan area as well as possibly other Southern cities.   For further information, www.suncoastelectricvehicles.com.

I am very excited about all of the changes in automotive and EV technology that have taken place.  We have put our core beliefs in electric vehicles into practical application with our new business, and that makes me very  proud."
