Sierra Club

The Sierra Club is the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization with 1.4 million members and supporters and chapters in all 50 states. In March of 2011, the Sierra Club launched its Go Electric campaign to promote a switch to electric vehicles as one important way to reduce carbon emissions and our dangerous dependence on oil. Indeed, each year, American passenger cars and trucks spew approximately 1.3 billion tons of carbon pollution into the air by burning 129 billion gallons of gasoline. Our dangerous dependence on oil has resulted in catastrophes like the BP spill in the Gulf of Mexico and, every day, we send nearly one billion dollars abroad to pay for oil, increasing our national debt and dependence on many nations hostile to our policies.

Through the Sierra Club's Go Electric Campaign, we are educating the public (through our web site, media outreach, public events, etc) and advocating for the right federal, state, local, and utility policies that will incentivize EVs and, when possible, opportunities to rely on renewable sources of power. We are delighted to partner with "Revenge of the Electric Car" as a terrific way to engage the public on this important issue (and we think it's a really fun film!).
